Moray’s 5,500 non-domestic rates payers must take action
Moray Council is urging around 5,500 non-domestic ratepayers to take action now to make sure they receive any rates relief or reduction they may be entitled to.
From 1 April 2026, a nationwide revaluation of all non-domestic properties in Scotland came into effect. Because many rates reliefs depend on a property’s new rateable value, all existing reliefs and reductions in Moray have been cancelled from that date.
If a business, organisation or property owner believes they qualify for any rates relief, or a reduction to their non-domestic rates bill they must submit a new application, even if they received help before.
All non-domestic rates payers in Moray have been contacted directly by Moray Council, with more information here.
Reapplying makes sure reliefs match the new 2026 property values; helps Moray Council keep its records accurate and up to date; and ensures that only valid reliefs are awarded, protecting public funds.
All relevant application forms, including those for new reliefs introduced on 1 April 2026, are available on the Moray Council website. Ratepayers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible if they think they may be eligible.
Any questions about available reliefs; eligibility or how to reapply can be directed to Moray Council using the online form here.
