Moray’s sports volunteers celebrated at annual awards

Volunteers and local sports initiatives have been celebrated at the second annual Moray Active Schools and Community Sport Hub Recognition Awards.

The second Moray Active Schools and Community Sport Hub Recognition Awards have taken place at Elgin Bowling Club, bringing together volunteers, community champions, and project teams who help drive sport and physical activity across the region.

Nearly 30 nominees were considered for honours in categories including Young Leader of the Year, School Sport Volunteer of the Year, and Community Sport Hub Volunteer of the Year.

Principal Active Schools and Community Sport officer Roy McPherson - who presented the awards – said: “It was a very strong and inspiring list of nominees this year and the panel had a difficult job deciding on winners.

“There was a wide range of different sports, ages and target groups within the projects, including a mix of universal and ‘changing lives through sport’ themed initiatives. The awards have emphasised the strength of sport, partnership working and volunteering in Moray.”
