What is happening behind St Giles Church in Elgin?

The Muckle Cross is getting a makeover!

This monument, a grand old resident of the Plainstones built around 1888, was looking the worse for wear and so it is being gently cleaned and nursed back to full glory and will be ready for spring. Here’s a sneak peak of the works so far.

Funding for the repairs is a joint effort between the Elgin Common Good Fund, the Elgin Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) and Moray Council.

Further funding for traditional building repairs in the Elgin town centre is available through the Elgin CARS programme. For more information see http://www.elgincars.org.uk

Moray Council area stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Forres in the west. The council and its 4,500 employees respond to the needs of 95,510 residents in this beautiful part of Scotland, which nestles between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands.

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live.

Headquartered in  Elgin, the administrative capital of Moray.
