Business Hub at Elgin Library

New Business Hub opens at Elgin Library

A brand-new Business Hub has officially opened at Elgin Library, offering a modern, flexible co-working environment for freelancers, remote workers, and small business owners across Moray.

Whether you're working from home and need a professional space, starting your own business or looking for support to grow, the Business Hub provides a convenient and cost-effective solution in the heart of Elgin.

The Hub features dedicated work pods and collaborative desks, creating a productive and welcoming atmosphere for solo work or group collaboration. Users have access to laptops, high-speed Wi-Fi, and printing and scanning services.

Support is also available to help connect individuals with trusted business resources, and a range of digital skills training is offered, from informal workshops to accredited IT courses.

A programme of events is currently being developed, which will include workshops delivered by partner organisations such as Business Gateway, who have supported the project from the early stages.

The Business Hub at Elgin Library is supported by £29,900 from the Scottish Government Public Library Improvement Fund.

Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Communities and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “This is a fantastic new facility for anyone looking to work flexibly or build their business in Moray. It’s fantastic to see such a welcoming space where people can focus, collaborate, and access the tools and support they need.”

The launch of the Business Hub marks a significant step in the ongoing development of Elgin Library as a centre for enterprise, learning, and innovation. Later this year, the library will also welcome the Early Years STEM Discovery Centre, a flagship project of Moray’s £100m Growth Deal. The Early Years STEM project, funded through £3.5m from the Scottish Government and £2.9m from Moray Council, includes the development of the STEM centre at Elgin library which is anticipated to cost in the region of £1.8m. This dedicated space will provide hands-on science and technology learning experiences for young children, further strengthening the library’s role in supporting Moray’s future workforce.
