Elgin Neighbourhood Board has announced the appointment of its new chair to lead the community led board that set clear local priorities for Elgin based on community feedback.
Having lived in Moray for 37 years, Jackie Andrews brings extensive experience in leadership positions, a strong track record in collaboration across sectors, deep local knowledge and a wide network of contacts to support delivery and engagement.
As chair, Jackie will provide strategic leadership to the Elgin Neighbourhood Board to support its work to create vibrant town centres and safe communities and empower the community and invest into spaces that bring people together to create a sense of pride for the places they live.
Commenting on the appointment, Jackie Andrews, Chair of the Elgin Neighbourhood Board said; “I feel privileged to accept the role of chair for the Elgin Neighbourhood board, and to follow in the footsteps of Jenny Urquhart, our outgoing chair. The board has already built strong foundations and following UK government approval of Elgin’s 10-year Pride in Place Plan earlier this year, we enter into a key phase over the next four years, which includes 17 projects that will be funded by the Board in line with community priorities.”
Leader of Moray Council, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “I want to thank outgoing Elgin Neighbourhood Board Chair, Jenny Urquhart, and vice chair Leigh Scott for their invaluable support and leadership. They have helped build the basis of what the board is today.
“Jackie shares our ambition for a future throughout Moray where all neighbourhoods have better access to improved facilities and safer public spaces with green spaces, sports facilities and cultural events enriching everyday life.
“Elgin Neighbourhood Board has helped us gain a better understanding of what is truly important to the people of Elgin, and we look forward to what lies ahead”
