New electric charging tariff introduced in Moray
A new tariff for use of Moray Council-operated electric vehicle charging points has been introduced.
The new tariffs will support the Council to recover appropriate operational costs as well as maintain the public network of charging points.
The new tariff has been set at 56p/kWh for rapid charge points and 43p/kWh for fast charge points, with users required to pay a minimum fee of £1. No overstay fee applies for slow/fast chargers although an overstay fee of £10 applies after 70 minutes for rapid chargers.
Chair of the Economic, Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said: “The new tariffs mean the Council no longer absorbs the cost of the rising demand for electric vehicle charging. We will continue to monitor price changes, and should electricity prices fluctuate, charges may be amended to reflect this.”
