New report shows progress across Moray’s Community Sport Hub

Moray’s Community Sport Hubs continued to develop in 2025, providing more inclusive and accessible opportunities for sport, physical activity and community wellbeing, according to a report presented to Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee today (Tuesday 3 March).

The report highlights a year of progress across the region, with programmes supporting local sports clubs, community groups and residents of all ages and abilities. 63 clubs have now achieved accreditation through the Moray Club Accreditation Scheme, helping raise standards and giving participants confidence in safe high-quality coaching.

Inclusion and wellbeing have been a major focus. The Moray Disability Sport Hub delivered coach education to more than 40 local coaches while the Moray Pride Inclusion Hub ran taster sessions and awareness events to reduce barriers for LGBTQIA+ participants. Active Recovery Moray celebrated its 250th session, supporting adults’ mental health, social connection and integration through football and mountain biking.

The Mental Health Accreditation Project also trained coaches to support older adults through physical activity and grant funding helped local clubs deliver inclusion-focused projects. Cooper Park Community Sport Hub upgraded pavilion facilities and strengthened community partnerships.

As 2026 progresses, the hubs plan to focus on expanding accreditation to more local clubs, running additional inclusive sports events through the Disability and Pride hubs and to further develop Active Recovery Moray.

Chair of the Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: "The Community Sport Hubs are helping make sport and physical activity accessible, inclusive and supportive of wellbeing for people across Moray. From disability and LGBTQIA+ programmes to mental health initiatives and club accreditation, these hubs are providing opportunities for everyone to get involved and feel part of their communities.”
