Planned tree maintenance in Elgin and Forres
A major programme of tree maintenance is to be carried out in Elgin’s Cooper Park and Grant Park in Forres.
The programme, which will take place between January and March 2025, will see work take place to revitalise 120 trees in Cooper Park through pruning and the removal of damaged branches; with a further six trees being felled and replaced in the next planting season following the works.
Similar work will take place in Grant Park, with pruning and branch removal taking place on 74 trees; with two being felled and replaced.
The work follows detailed surveys of the condition of the trees in both parks, and will be carried out by Speyside Tree Services Ltd.
Councillor Marc Macrae, Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee said: “This essential tree maintenance programme will not only help preserve the health and safety of the trees in both parks, but also enhance the beauty of these important community spaces.
“I would ask members of the public to respect any cordons put in place while these works are carried out, and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
