Confident pupils, along with the leadership and dedication of staff at Hopeman Primary, has been praised in a recent inspection by Education Scotland.

The inspection report highlights key strengths in the school’s work, particularly the leadership of the acting Head Teacher in providing children with more opportunities to succeed in their learning and creating a positive and inclusive educational environment.

Staff were also praised for their willingness to accept new ways of working, which has helped enhance the depth and consistency of learning for all pupils.

The report further highlights the strength of the outdoor learning curriculum, which plays a key role in developing children’s strength and confidence.

By taking advantage of the rich local environment, pupils get lots of opportunities to achieve, both inside and outside of the classroom. This innovative approach has helped pupils engage more deeply in their learning and personal development.

Two of the quality indicators focused on during the inspection were Learning, teaching and assessment and Raising attainment and achievement.

Both indicators were graded as ‘good’ after the evaluation, which indicates the service provided to the pupils is impressive and enables positive outcomes.

In terms of areas for improvement, the inspection identified a need to continue developing strategies to raise attainment in literacy, as well as implementing a system to record student achievements more effectively.

Hopeman Primary’s Acting Headteacher, Lacey MacDonald, said: “We’re delighted that the report has highlighted many of the strengths of our school. Our staff work incredibly hard to create a positive learning environment for all pupils, and we’ll continue to build on this success by focusing on the areas of improvement to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.”

Moray Council’s Chief Education Officer, Vivienne Cross, added: “It’s fantastic to see the positive outcomes of Hopeman Primary’s inspection report.
