Positive report for Cullen Primary School and nursery

CULLEN Primary School and nursery has received a positive report from education inspectors following an inspection in October 2018.

Parents will today receive notification of the inspectors’ findings, who rated the school and nursery as “very good” and “good” across a number of areas.

The school received praise for its “high quality learning and teaching” as well as “the care and support children show for one another across the school and nursery. They interact very positively and respectfully during activities. Children are polite and highly motivated to learn.”

It was also highlighted that there is an “inclusive community which works together to make things the best they can be for all children,” and that “children experience a culture of enjoyment, challenge and active participation”.

Chair of Moray Council’s Children and Young People’s Services Committee, Cllr Sonya Warren, said the Acting Head Teacher and staff at Cullen Primary School and Nursery had achieved a great deal.

“To receive such a positive report from Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate is testament to the teamwork of the school and nursery staff, which I’m delighted was also praised by inspectors. Their hard work every day does not go unrecognised and is benefitting the pupils in the nursery and the school itself.”

Steps to implement the improvements suggested by the inspectors, including continuing to develop systems which track the pupils’ progress, and ensuring children have the opportunities to participate in all aspects of school life, are already under way.
