Primary pupils annual Movement & Dance Display
The eighth annual Elgin Active Schools Dance & Movement display takes place on Monday 19th March at Elgin Town Hall.
The event has been organised by the Elgin Active Schools team in partnership with local dance, martial arts and gymnastics clubs.
Over the past six weeks coaches from the clubs have delivered sessions to Primary 2 classes across Elgin. The clubs involved are Focus Martial Arts, Moray Dance, SE Productions, EJT Dance & Fitness, Zara Mortimer School of Dance, Allstars & Stripes Cheer and Active Gymnastics.
The aim of the project is to promote the wide range of local clubs available to this age group.
Over 150 pupils have been involved with the sessions and it’s expected that around 120 of these turn up on the night to show off the routines they have learned. Parents have also been invited to come and watch the display and a crowd of 300 is anticipated.
Active Schools Co-ordinator, Roy McPherson, said: “We’re delighted this display has now become an annual event.
“The coaches have been working hard with the classes and we believe the sessions have had a positive impact on the coordination and confidence of everyone involved. “We hope that as a result of the project the local clubs involved will see an increase in junior membership”
