Public access group in Moray looks for new members
People with an interest in outdoor access in Moray are being encouraged to join a local forum that advises on responsible use of the countryside.
The Moray Local Outdoor Access Forum is made up of volunteers who help guide decisions about land and path access. Members include walkers, cyclists, landowners, farmers and representatives from public bodies such as Forestry and Land Scotland, NatureScot and Moray Council.
The group plays an advisory role in access planning, contributes to policy development and helps resolve issues when access rights come into question.
Places on the Forum are open to people from across Moray – or those who know the area well - who can represent community interests, land management or recreational access. Members typically meet four times a year and are supported by council officers.
Cllr Marc Macrae, chair of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, said: "The Forum plays an important role in how access is managed locally. The range of views around the table helps make sure decisions are practical, fair and grounded in local knowledge."
