Refurbished Moray Leisure Centre to join Fit Life scheme this month

MORAY Leisure Centre is to join Moray Council’s Fit Life scheme later this month.

Memberships for the Fit Life scheme at Moray Leisure Centre will go on sale at an open day at the Centre on 20th October.

Individuals and Families will be able to sign up to scheme in Moray Leisure Centre at reception or via an online form, where the link will be issued via their social media page. Moray Leisure Centre will also be releasing an introductory 30% discount on the first 300 annual memberships that are sold.

Existing Moray Council Fit Life members will be able to use the facilities from 22 October, coinciding with the launch of the new adult fitness class timetable and children’s swimming lesson block.

The ice rink will not be included in the Fit Life membership, and the relaxation suite will be available as a bolt-on for an additional £5 monthly charge. Swimming lessons, adult fitness classes and the gym will all be included in the membership, available from just £21 per month.

Moray Leisure Centre is to undergo a £500,000 refurbishment, including a £250,000 gym refit early next year.

Convener of Moray Council, Cllr Shona Morrison, is pleased to welcome Moray Leisure Centre into Moray Council’s Fit Life scheme.

“We invest significant sums of money into the leisure centre in Elgin and I’m delighted that we’ll continue to work in partnership to offer high-quality leisure facilities for residents in Elgin and beyond.

“Fit Life is proving to be a hugely successful leisure membership scheme in Moray and represents excellent value for money.”

Acting Chair of the MLC board, Andrew Wood, said: “The board and staff of Moray Leisure Centre have worked tirelessly with the local authority to provide universal access for the residents of Moray to the affordable provision of health and fitness facilities.

“Elgin has long been the major gap in that provision and here at Moray Leisure Centre, we have worked with Moray Council to fill that gap in a partnership that is sustainable and fair to all parties whilst keeping focused on the community we all serve.”

Non-Executive Director of Moray Leisure Centre, Martin Gray, said: “In October we will be joining the Fit Life Scheme and will be working with the local authority and our management team from High Life Highland to enhance and improve that offering.

“With the refurbishment of our gym and introducing new technologies such as the MLC fitness app, we are going to be giving the residents of Moray a first class service in health and wellbeing. This is a testament to the hard work and investment that has been made by all to benefit the community as a whole.”

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
