Remembrance Day services

Remembrance events for Sunday November 8th

Remembrance Sunday activities will be reduced this year due to the pandemic restrictions.

There will be no parades and fewer church services, although wreath-laying at memorials across Moray will go ahead almost as normal. Those taking part in these ceremonies and those attending should observe social distancing guidelines.

Poppies will be readily available at manned stands.

Lord-Lieutenant of Moray Maj Gen Seymour Monro said that Poppy Scotland needs more support at this time than ever.

“It is so important that we remember those who sacrificed so much despite the constraints of Coronavirus”, he said.

“It is also very important that we donate generously to Poppy Scotland and to other veterans’ charities. It has been a testing time for them and there will be difficult months ahead for many veterans.”

“I would also like to praise today’s Armed Forces who have done so much to help the country through the pandemic whilst carrying out their primary task of defending us. I will be visiting 39 Engineer Regiment at Kinloss and RAF Lossiemouth shortly to say ‘thank you’ for their wonderful efforts on behalf of the people of Moray”.

Full details of wreath-laying locations and times are on the Moray Council website at this link: http://www.moray.gov.uk/downloads/file134478.doc
