Reminder on voter registration
People in Moray are being reminded of the April 17 deadline for voter registration for the upcoming local government elections.
They are also being urged to check the Electoral Commission’s voting guide for advice on how to take part in the May 4 elections.
The guide, which has been delivered to every household in Scotland over the past week, contains important information for voters on how to register, how to fill in their ballot paper and alternative means of voting if they are away on polling day.
Moray’s depute returning officer, Moira Patrick, said: “Now that voters in Moray have received the voting guide from the Electoral Commission, we hope they will feel confident about taking part in the council election.
“Anyone who has not received a copy can view it online at www.moray.gov.uk/elections
“The guide has also been produced in a number of different languages and accessible formats.
“Don’t forget that you will not be able to have a say if you are not registered to vote by the April 17 deadline, so I would encourage anyone not already registered to do so online now at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote ”
Voters who are already registered to vote are being reminded that they do not need to register again. Anyone already registered will receive a poll card by April 28.
