Reminder to share your views on the future site of new Forres Academy

Local residents are encouraged to take part in the ongoing public engagement exercise around the future site of Forres Academy.

The engagement, which launched on 27 March 2024, aims to gather views on the two viable remaining site options, Lochyhills and Applegrove Playing Fields/ Roysvale.

The public can share their views on their preferred choice through an online survey. The survey runs until 25 April 2024.

Physical copies of the survey are also available from the Forres Library and Forres Post Office.

A community drop-in session will be held at Forres Town Hall on 18 April from 10am-7pm. This is a chance for anyone who wishes to learn more about the sites to come and speak with the team.

A list of frequently asked questions can be found online. These are updated on a regular basis and will cover any queries or concerns.

Moray Council’s Elected Members for Forres are encouraging locals to pop into the session and get involved with the engagement.

Cllr Scott Lawrence, said: “Ensuring our young people have the best educational opportunities and facilities is incredibly important. Input from the local community is vital to be able to achieve this and so I encourage everyone to go along and speak with the Learning Estate team to discuss these future options for Forres Academy.”

Cllr Paul McBain, added: “The condition of the school has been a concern for some time and it’s clear from the feedback we’ve been receiving that this is of interest to the local community. I would encourage anyone who has not yet shared their views to come along to the drop in event on 18 April to learn more and contribute to the engagement.”

Cllr Draeyk Van Der Horn, commented: “In order to ensure we can provide a new future Forres Academy build that the community is happy with, we need to hear from them. That’s why it’s important for as many people as possible to take part in the survey and contribute their opinions.”

Cllr Kathleen Robertson, Council Leader, finished: “All Moray’s young people should have access to high-quality, up-to-date learning facilities that we can all be proud of. This site engagement is the next step to being able to deliver this at Forres Academy and I would encourage everyone to get involved and share their views.”
