Residents and businesses asked for opinion on electric vehicles

Moray Council is working with the Energy Saving Trust to find out what people and businesses in Moray think about electric vehicles.

As part of the ‘Switched On Towns and Cities’ project, a joint survey has been launched, asking what methods of transport folk currently use, if they’ve heard of Scotland’s public network of electric vehicle chargers, what models of electric cars people are aware of, and what barriers they face when considering electric car ownership.

The survey, which runs until 14 March, will help the council and the Energy Saving Trust determine future demand for electric vehicles and the necessary infrastructure, such as charging points, needed across Moray to meet this demand.

So far 10 chargers for electric vehicles have been installed for public use in Moray. Use of these increased by 85% in 2018/19, from 546 times in 2017/18 to 1,010. Moray is also home to the first rural electric bus route, between Aberlour and Forres.
