Rothes Nursery

Rothes Primary Nursery inspection report released

The staff team and children of Rothes Primary Nursery have been praised by Education Scotland inspectors for its nurturing ethos and warm environment.

In the recent inspection report, children at Rothes Nursery were found to be highly engaged in their learning, with all learners playing well together, sharing with one another, and forming strong friendships.

Inspectors commended the nursery staff for their caring, supportive, and respectful approach, providing children with many opportunities to be curious, explore, and investigate.

Nursery practitioners were found to be capable and effective in maintaining a good environment of teamwork, continually supporting improvements.

Rothes Nursery was also complimented for keeping parents well informed about daily activities, helping them to discuss their child’s progress, and maintaining strong partnerships with families.

The four quality indicators focused on during the inspection were Learning teaching and assessment; Securing children’s progress; Leadership of change; and Ensuring well-being, Equality and inclusion. Of these, two were rated as ‘good’, one as ‘satisfactory’ and one as ‘very good’.

However, inspectors suggested that the nursery could benefit from more intentional planning by improving curriculum areas and assessment procedures to better track children’s progress effectively.

Nursery staff were also advised to include a more robust approach to manage the nursery and work together to develop staff leadership and support the nursery improvement plan.

Rothes Primary Nursery’s Manager, Carol Newlands, commented: “As the new manager, I’m thrilled to see such encouraging feedback from the inspection. It reflects the hard work of our staff in creating a caring and supportive environment for all children.

“I’ve already started working with everyone closely to focus on areas for improvement and ensure the best outcomes for all our learners.”

Moray Council’s Chief Education Officer, Vivienne Cross, said: “It’s great to see Rothes Primary Nursery receive such positive feedback. The staff have done a fantastic job creating a welcoming space where children can thrive.

“We congratulate the staff for their exceptional support and care and are excited to see how they continue to grow and improve.”
