LIBRARIES in Moray are joining the Libraries Week celebrations by showcasing the contribution they make in building a nation of readers.
Each day between 5 – 10 October Moray Council’s library service will, through social media, be focusing on what libraries can offer, and encouraging readers to connect and share their interesting reading habits and recommendations. While reading groups are unable to meet in libraries just now, there’s the opportunity for discussion online to show the benefits of reading for pleasure and how this can aid health and well-being.
There will be online mini-Bookbug rhyme sessions for the younger members of the family throughout the week and Moray Libraries will be highlighting what’s been available to customers throughout the lockdown period, and what's currently being set up, such as the provision of iPads for a number of residents who have been shielding, to help them become better connected via technology.
Despite the restrictions in place due to the Covid pandemic, library staff are providing access to books for all ages through the order and collect and reservation services, eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics, online reference books such as Britannica and Oxford Reference resources, and enthusiastic interaction through social media platforms.
It’s free to join the library and non-members can sign up by completing an online form from the Moray Council website.
