St Sylvester’s wins Moray Euroquiz heats for second year
St Sylvester’s Primary School, from Elgin, has won the Moray heats of Euroquiz for the second year in a row, qualifying for the national final.
Euroquiz is an annual competition run by SCILT, Scotland's National Centre for Languages, in which Primary 6 pupils from across the country answer questions on a range of topics related to Europe.
Eighteen primaries took part in the Moray heats this year – the largest number in the history of the quiz.
The team from St Sylvester’s, which came out on top, was made up of Cara Taylor, Matthew Flude, Sophie-Alice Goodwin and Rachel Morley; with reserves Jameel Hossain and Israel Adebayo.
Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Communities and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “It was a tremendous effort from all of the children who participated in what was a closely contested competition. They should all be enormously proud of their efforts.
“I’d also like to congratulate St Sylvester’s for winning the Moray heats for the second year in a row – this is a fantastic achievement, and I wish them the best of luck for the national finals in June.”
