Medieval re-enactments and equestrian stunt riders .. this weekend Cooper Park in Elgin turns back the clock to 1390 to provide two days of medieval-themed fun for all the family from 11 am to 5 pm.

Complete with a “living” medieval encampment you will be able to watch and interact with various guilds providing examples of cooking methods, food and drink, heraldry and traditional crafts including demonstrations of blacksmithing and woodturning skills.Visit the crime and punishment tent to learn about the darker side of history and have a go with a quill and ink and learn about calligraphy. Stunt riders on horseback will create an exciting twist and a falconer will demonstrate the ancient art of falconry with a range of beautiful birds of prey.

The finale will see the re-enactment of a fully scripted battle so come and witness what will happen. This inaugural event will be a spectacular, theatrical experience that promises to leave audiences awestruck and enchanted.Full details and a timetable of events : www.elginheritage.scot.

Beware…the Wolf is coming… it’s 1390 and rumours abound that the evil Wolf of Badenoch is threatening to destroy Elgin’s beautiful Cathedral. Witness the event unfold and watch with bated breath until the final battle…….. Will the garrison soldiers and the mighty city walls be strong enough to spare Elgin the same terrible fate as Forres and Pluscarden, or will the Wolf gain entry and put everyone to the Fire and Sword?...

Riders of the Storm, Scotland's Stunt and Display Team will be performing their Medieval stunt display at around 2pm showing off their amazing horses skills and will also be seen throughout the day in the re-enactments. But who's side will they be on.......... will they help the wolf??

Local businesses have got involved with Mediaeval themed window displays and a display in the St Giles shopping centre; a top ten tunes associated with the Wolf of Badenoch through Sound and Vision, Elgin and a colouring competition for children through WH Smith.

Jim Royan, Chair of the Castle to Cathedral to Cashmere project said: “This is our signature event from our calendar of activities and will provide a unique insight into how life was in Elgin’s medieval times.The Wolf of Badenoch was such a significant character in Elgin’s history and we hope that by this little piece of living history we can both entertain and educate.”
