Temporary changes to registration services see death and still-birth registrations conducted remotely to prevent spread of Covid-19
TEMPORARY changes to the registration of deaths and still-births have been announced.
Following guidance from the National Records of Scotland, death and still-birth registrations in Moray will be conducted remotely until further notice, to ensure residents are not required to attend the registration office to provide details or sign the register. This is in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to protect staff and residents.
Remote registration will allow residents to give permission to the registrar to sign the register page on their behalf. Families may request funeral directors to liaise with the registration service to register the death on their behalf.
Moray Council’s registration office remains closed to the public until further notice. Birth registrations will be suspended for the duration of this closure, and no marriage or civil partnership ceremonies will take place.
