Thousands of households in Moray to receive letter about Low Income Pandemic Payment

THOUSANDS of households in Moray will receive a letter from Moray Council in the coming days detailing how they’ll receive the Scottish Government’s Low Income Pandemic Payment.

A single payment of £130 is to be paid to households which in April 2021 met one of the following conditions:

  • those in receipt of Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme (previously known as Council Tax Benefits) award
  • those in receipt of Severe Mental Impairment Council Tax exemption
  • those in receipt of Receiving/Providing Care Elsewhere Council Tax exemption
  • those in receipt of Care Leaver Council Tax exemption
  • those in receipt of Under 18 Council Tax exemption
  • those not liable for Council Tax as they were residing in temporary accommodation or in a refuge.

Individuals or households do not need to apply; Moray Council – which is administering the payments – has already identified those eligible.

All payments will be made directly into bank accounts. First to receive a letter will be those Moray Council already has confirmed bank account details for, with payments to be made around 24 September. Should recipients need to amend bank account details, the secure online process is detailed within the letter. All information should be provided no later than 20 September to ensure payment is received on time.

A second tranche of letters will be issued to those who need to provide their bank account information; again the letter will set out the secure online process to do this.
