Tickets go on sale for Moray Music Centre’s Winter Concert
Young musicians from across Moray will tune up their instruments - and the festive spirit - for the region’s annual Winter Concert, at Elgin Academy on Saturday 6 December.
The annual festive event highlights the hard work and talent of local young performers from Moray Music Centre, as they take to the stage to present a selection of classic Christmas favourites.
Junior and Senior ensembles will take part in one concert this year, beginning at 1.30pm.
Principal Teacher of Music Instruction and Performance in Moray, Alexander Davidson, said: “Our Winter Concerts are always very popular - and what people perhaps don’t realise is just how much work goes into making them a success each year.
“Rehearsals started in August and have been running on Saturday mornings - the young people, staff and volunteers work incredibly hard to make this concert as fantastic as it is each year.”
Moray Music Centre, run by Moray Council’s Music Instruction and Performance team, offers school-aged children from across the region the opportunity to participate in a regional ensemble, developing their orchestral/band playing, as well as learning from and playing alongside their peers.
Over 100 young people will participate in this year’s concert – including many of last year’s Moray Young Musicians entrants and finalists.
Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “The Winter Concert is always a highlight of the festive calendar in Moray, and is a real showcase of the dedication and talent of our many young musicians.”
Tickets are on sale via the Moray Council Online Shop - admission is also payable on the door.
