Community Council results

Two Moray community councils have successfully been re-established following rerun elections

Buckie and District and Findochty and District Community Councils both attracted enough nominations during the reopened nomination period to meet the minimum requirements needed to form a community council.

As there were no contested seats in either area, members were elected unopposed. The full results and membership of the community councils can be found online here

The rerun elections were held after both councils failed to attract enough nominations during the original community council election process at the end of 2025. The additional nomination period between 6 and 20 January gave local residents a further opportunity to come forward and get involved in representing their communities.

Following the successful reruns, both community councils will move forward to hold their inaugural meetings, where office bearers will be appointed and arrangements for future meetings agreed. Community council meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Community councils play an important role in Moray, providing a local voice on issues such as planning, local services and community concerns, and acting as a link between residents and Moray Council.
