Update on swimming pool fire at Keith Sports and Community Centre
Thanks to the contractors who attended Keith Sports and Community Centre today to assess the damage and carry out the necessary safety checks following the fire at the swimming pool.
The fitness room, circular meeting room and sports hall weren’t affected by the fire and will reopen on Wednesday 30 September. The swimming pool will remain closed for a little longer while cleaning, repairs and final safety checks are carried out. The steam room and sauna will also remain closed for a period of time.
Astroturf pitch bookings aren’t affected. Groups with bookings today and tomorrow are being contacted directly with arrangements for collecting and returning keys while the facility remains closed.
We’d like to thank everyone who raised the alarm, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for attending, and the leisure team for safely evacuating the building. Their quick response helped bring the fire under control and make the building safe.
