"Very good" supported lodgings for young adults leaving care in Moray
SUPPORTED lodgings – accommodation and support provided to young adults who’ve left care in Moray – continues to be rated as “very good”.
The service helps young people aged between 16-21 move from a care setting into a supportive environment, to help them prepare for living independently in the community.
Moray Council’s Children & Young People’s Services Committee today heard that the inspection carried out in October 2018 rated the quality of care and support, and the quality of leadership and management within the service, as “very good”.
Highlighted as a strength was the commitment of the staff team to “providing the best service”, as well as “providing very good support” to the adult placement carers, who offer support and care in their own homes to young people.
Chair of Moray Council’s Children & Young People’s Services Committee, Cllr Sonya Warren said: “I welcome the findings of this latest inspection and congratulate the staff for all of their hard work to ensure we can continue to provide this very good and highly valued service to the young people here in Moray who need support.
“If anyone in Moray is interested in becoming a supported lodgings carer, please get in touch with us by emailing educationandsocialcare@moray.gov.uk.”
Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
