Views sought on new Findrassie Primary School

MORAY Council is conducting a pre-application consultation on the proposed new Findrassie Primary School in Elgin.

Members of the Planning and Regulatory Services Committee discussed the Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) on Tuesday 16 August 2022 which sets out the plans for the existing agricultural land to the south of Myreside Cottage, Covesea Road, Elgin.

Findrassie Primary School is a planned 450 pupil school with Additional Support Needs (ASN) and nursery provision.  There will also be external areas for outdoor play and access to facilitate on-site parking and drop-off. The new school is scheduled to open in 2025.

A public exhibition will be held at Bishopmill Hall on Wednesday 7 September 2022 between 4pm and 8pm. Members of the public will be able to submit comments on the proposal and view the general design concepts, initial site plans and building layouts.

Feedback received from the public exhibition may be incorporated into the design development prior to the submission of a planning application.

Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said that the new primary school will help meet the anticipated increase in demand for places in the area.

“I strongly encourage residents to attend the upcoming public exhibition on 7 September. It’s important that we listen to feedback from the local community to ensure we deliver a school that best meets their needs.”

Further information on the proposals can be obtained from Moray Council Property Services, Council Office, High Street, Elgin, IV30 1BX.
