Volunteers appeal for job clubs

Volunteers appeal for job clubs

Job clubs in libraries across Moray have become so popular they need more volunteers to help jobseekers prepare for the workplace.

Job clubs in libraries across Moray have become so popular they need more volunteers to help jobseekers prepare for the workplace.

The five clubs – which run at Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Keith and Lossiemouth – give people the opportunity to meet others who are also looking for work, build new contacts, share experiences and gain advice on job applications, CVs and potential volunteering opportunities.

A libraries service spokesman said: “Research shows that the best way to find another job is through friends, family or social networks, which is why it is so vital to have a local job club.

“We are looking for more volunteers to support the job clubs and we would encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch.”

The job club at Elgin library meets from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, at Buckie from 1.30pm to 4pm on Tuesday, at Forres from 2pm to 4pm on Monday, at Keith from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Friday and at Lossiemouth from 2pm to 5pm on Friday.

Anyone who would like more information, about either attending or volunteering, should contact Elgin library on 01343 562603.
