Voting Opens for Coastal Communities Fund Projects in Moray
Moray Council is inviting residents to have their say on how £133,000 from the Coastal Communities Fund will be allocated to support local projects that benefit our coastal areas.
The fund aims to enhance the sustainability and resilience of Moray’s coastal communities by backing initiatives that improve facilities, boost tourism, and protect the environment.
Following an application process, 15 eligible projects are ready for the community to decide which ones should receive a grant.
Voting is open from Wednesday 19 November until 5pm Wednesday 3 December. Residents can cast their vote online. This is the first time the new Moray Engage platform has been used for a community vote, with the voting system chosen designed to ensure all communities have an equal voice, regardless of size. Anyone needing assistance with the voting process can contact the Moray Community Digital Buddies, based in community hub areas, or contact the Moray Libraries service.
Hubs can be visited in-person during opening hours or contacted directly to arrange a suitable time. Alternatively the council’s Project Officer for Digital Connectivity and Inclusion can be contacted for further advice on 01343 563579 or csu@moray.gov.uk.
Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Service Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said: “This fund is a fantastic opportunity for local people to shape the future of their coastal communities. Every vote counts, so we encourage everyone to get involved and support the projects they believe will make the biggest difference.”
