Walking and Cycling Opportunities Continue to Grow in Moray
Walking and cycling routes are on the up in Moray is response to demand from residents and tourists.
There are currently 11 Health Walk Groups operating in Moray, and a new cycle guide has been launched by Moray Speyside Tourism.
Health Walks are short, safe and social walks in the local area that are delivered by qualified leaders, and are a great way to become more physically active and meet new people.
People can join a Health Walk at any point and simply need to turn up at a weekly session of their preference.A buggy walk is also operating for mums, or dads, and babies/young children. There’s also an Autism Health Walk also operates in Forres on a monthly basis, and a Quarriers’ Alzheimers session also takes place in Elgin.New members are always welcome at groups and many will finish or include a refreshment stop along the way.
The new Cycle Moray Speyside Guide has been designed for the local community, tourists and visitors to the area.The guide highlights 10 locations in Moray that are ideal for cycling, identifies whether they are road or mountain trails, and if they are suitable or not for the whole family.Log onto the Moray Speyside Tourism website to download a copy of the guide, www.morayspeyside.com
The annual Glen Moray Sportive and Bike Ride will take place on Sunday 26th June.The event, which is organised by Glen Moray distillery, North East Sensory Service (NESS) and Moray Council, includes a 10, 25 and 75 mile route option.
The event raises funds for NESS and starts and finishes at Glen Moray distillery.Organisers are hoping to beat the record set last year and enlist more than 206 cyclists.Registration for this event is now open online via www.q-buster.com.

Hopeman on Thursday at 6.30pm starting at Hopeman Pavilion
Buckie on Wednesdays at 6.30pm starting at Buckie Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre.
