Award-winning Progress for Parents expands to Forres and Lossiemouth

An award-winning project supporting parents to build confidence and skills is expanding to new communities across Moray.

Progress for Parents, delivered by Moray Pathways partners  - Moray Council Employability Team and Community Learning and Development (Adult & Family Learning), has launched groups in Forres and Lossiemouth.

It comes just months after the original group, which runs weekly sessions in Buckie, was recognised with a prestigious Scotland’s Learning Partnership Award.

Since launching in February 2024, Progress for Parents has supported parents to overcome personal challenges, reduce social isolation and take positive steps towards volunteering, further learning and employment.

Participants have gone on to explore paid work placements, plan careers in childcare and, in some cases, start their own businesses.

Building on this success, parents can now access Progress for Parents sessions at the following locations:

  • Forres
    Thursdays, 10.30am-12.30pm
    Forres Town Hall
  • Lossiemouth
    Fridays, 10am-12pm
    Lossie Community Hub
  • Buckie
    Wednesdays, 10am-12pm
    Lady Cathcart House

Work is underway to launch an additional group in Elgin in the second half of 2026.

Moray Council leader Cllr Kathleen Robertson said: “I’m very pleased to see Progress for Parents expand into Forres and Lossiemouth, giving more parents the opportunity to take positive steps forward. The feedback from participants speaks for itself – it’s changed lives, helping some participants find work and supporting others through personal challenges. The programme continues to be well received by those taking part.”

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said: “Progress for Parents is a great example of how the right support at the right time can make a real difference. Its expansion into new communities means that more parents can build confidence, develop skills and take steps towards learning and employment.”
